Dems courting Hulit for Senate; Sawyer mulls rematch with Perry

State Sen. Joe Perry could face a rematch with Republican Tom SawyerState Sen. Joe Perry could face a rematch with Republican Tom SawyerIt would appear that the Democrats have their eye on the seat being vacated by Senator Karl Turner. Word is they have lined up Jeanne Hulit, a banker with strong business connections to the greater Portland area. This Senate seat may well become ground zero for control of the State Senate in 2008. The Hulit candidacy just upped the ante. The senate district includes Cumberland, Falmouth, Gray, Yarmouth and North Yarmouth.

And in Bangor: Tom Sawyer, the former Republican Senator who was defeated in 2004 by the current Senator Joe Perry, is rumored to have his eye on his former seat in the Maine State Senate. That will be a great race to watch.

Perry cleaned up last time

Perry cleaned up last time these two went head to head. Why would this time be any different?

And since then Perry has been a rising star in the Senate. Has Sawyer done anything between then and now?

To claim Perry is a "rising

To claim Perry is a "rising star" is a bit of an overstatement. He certainly hasn't used his position to influence the stagnate economic policies of the Baldacci administration. As the ranking member on the taxation committee – Perry has been inept at accomplishing anything. The real question is what has Perry EVER done? His record of running businesses into the ground is impressive –unlike Sawyer’s who actually employed people for a significant amount of time. Perry is a nice guy. Just not an effective one.
