"Inappropriate manner"

An audit by the Office of the State Controller revealed that $4,000 in state and federal funds were used "in an inappropriate manner."

Inside sources say the lobbying arm of Verrill Dana and the Maine Cultural Affairs Council have some "issues". Keep an eye on this one:

It's never a good idea to piss-off Rebecca Wyke, the commissioner of administrative and financial services. Word is that the Ethics Commission may even visit the issue.
