A mention in O Magazine came up a couple times in Susan Collins’ travels through the Maine caucuses Saturday.
Oprah Winfrey’s monthly magazine has named Collins one of the top six women in politics that could be president, saying she’s “straight talking, very knowledgeable, and has a solid track record.”
“Wouldn’t it be nice if we could vote for a woman for president, and it wasn’t Hillary,” remarked Mary Small, who introduced Collins at the Sagadahoc County caucus.

In Sagadahoc County, a former Navy captain stood up and briefly talked about his strong support for McCain.
In Lincoln County, Dick Bailey of Dresden, said he knew he wasn’t going to change anyone’s mind that day, but urged the crowd to vote in November for whichever Republican earned the nomination.

After losing control of Congress in 2006, U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe said it is paramount that the Republicans retain control of the presidency.
Snowe told a crowd of Androscoggin County caucus-goers that John McCain is the only candidate who can get elected in November. “We don’t want to go back to the future,” Snowe said.

There are about 200 people here in West Bath, for the Sagadahoc County caucus.
Things are a little quieter here then they were in Lewiston. There are a few signs, but lots of stickers and petitions.
Tagg Romney is here, and gave the same speech he gave in Lewiston. Congressional candidate Dean Scontras has also spoken, along with Tricia Summers, daughter of congressional candidate Charlie Summers, and Woolwich resident Gary Harvey, a Ron Paul supporter.
