Charlie Summers, a Republican candidate in the 1st congressional district, returned home from Iraq Saturday evening, greeting a small group of friends and family at the Portland Jetport.

Summers' wife, Ruth, has stood in for him as he served as a Navy reservist in Iraq.

In the next month, Summers has planned a rigorous debate schedule against GOP primary opponent Dean Scontras.
