Shipyard commander endorses Scontras

Rear Admiral Harold Young (U.S. Navy, Ret.) endorsed Republican Dean Scontras for Congress today.

Young previously served as vice commander, Naval Sea Systems Command and Chief Engineer of the Navy at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

In a statement, Young said:

"Dean Scontras is a man of impeccable integrity and I am proud to offer him my support in his campaign for Congress.

"I've known Dean since he was a young man growing up in Kittery, and he's just the kind of candidate we need to bring new energy and new ideas to a Washington filled with career politicians and partisan bickering.  As a successful businessman, Scontras demonstrated his ability to bring people together and work towards practical solutions to challenging problems; as a husband and father of two beautiful children Scontras knows what it's like to raise a family in Maine with traditional Maine values.  We need to send Dean Scontras to Washington.”

Scontras responded:

"This endorsement is incredible news for the campaign, and I am honored to have the support of a true American patriot, Rear Admiral Young.  Rear Admiral Young understands the challenges facing America's national security every day and that Maine's next Congressman must continue to support the men and women in uniform who fight to protect us from harm.  He also understands that the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is the life blood of Kittery, and that we need a Congressman who will fight to keep it in business.  I am ready to lead on these two critical issues, and I am proud to have veterans like Rear Admiral Young standing with me.”
