Maine Democratic Party Chairman John Knutson chose former party chair Gwethyln Phillips, an Obama supporter, as his choice for an add-on superdelegate. State convention delegates approved her Sunday.
Convention delegates also chose the four Presidential Electors, who will cast Maine’s ballot for President in November. They are: Tracie Reed of Portland, Robert “Obie” O’Brien of Peaks Island, Sam Shapiro of Waterville and Jill Duson of Portland.
Maggie Allen of Madison was elected Democratic National Committeewoman, beating Rita Moran of Winthrop. Current committeeman Sam Spencer ran unopposed and was elected.
Collins has the support of 94% of her party’s voters compared to Allen’s 80% support among Democratic voters. >
