Ed Suslovic

On the local level there are several competitive races in Portland. At 7:30 p.m. on Sunday there will be a local candidate’s debate hosted by the Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization.

The following candidates will attend the event at St. Lawrence Arts Center at 76 Congress Street:

• Senate District 8: Justin Alfond (D-Portland), Bill Linnell (Green Independent-Portland), Eric Lusk (R-Portland)
• House District 120: Sandy Amborn (Green-Independent-Portland), Peter Doyle (R-Portland), Diane Russell (D-Portland)
• School Committee at-large: Liz Holton, Anna Trevorrow
• City Council at-large: Tina Smith, Ed Suslovic, Dory Waxman

The Portland League of Young Voters has endorsed a slate of legislative and national candidates for the general election.

The League has a registered political action committee which had $12,515 in its coffers as of July 22, the most recent data available.

The candidates are:

Ed Suslovic was inaugurated today as Mayor of Portland. He was nominated by John Anton. Mr. Anton was the target of a last minute negative campaign by democratic political operative, Tony Buxton.
