Republicans and Democrats in the Maine House will elect their respective leaders Thursday.

On the Democratic side, Rep. Hannah Pingree (D-North Haven) will likely be unopposed for House speaker.

For House majority leader, Reps. Gary Connor (D-Kennebunk), John Piotti (D-Unity) and Sharon Treat (D-Hallowell) have all announced intentions to run.

The Portland League of Young Voters has endorsed a slate of legislative and national candidates for the general election.

The League has a registered political action committee which had $12,515 in its coffers as of July 22, the most recent data available.

Personally, I'd support the laptops if there were stern looks and disapproving frowns from Joy O'Brien as screen savers on all the screens. (The Secretary-Commissar of the Senate). Heck, maybe even a little audio of Joy saying, "Puh-lease" every time Senator Schneider or Representative Adams stands up to speak.
