Rasmussen, Rothenberg disagree on presidential race in Maine

There are two recent polls with somewhat conflicting results about the presidential race in Maine.

On Friday, Rasmussen Reports noted that there was only a four-point gap between Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and Republican candidate John McCain, with Obama leading 50 to 46.

However they give Obama a 92.9 percent chance of winning Maine’s four electoral votes.

This was a drastic difference from Rasmussen’s August report, which had Obama leading 49 to 36.

The Rothenberg Political Report, however, does not view this race as close. In data released today, the report puts Maine in its “Safe/Likely Obama” category.

Psst….Karl, the “doofus” comment wasn’t off the record.

After the non stop Palin pregnancy pabulum, PolitickerME’s very own Jessica Alaimo has succeeded in infiltrating the People Magazine news coverage of the Republican National Convention. The story on Karl Rove’s breakfast appearance with the Maine delegation, in which Mr. Rove referred to U.S. Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) as a "big, blowhard doofus," has grabbed the attention of news outlets across the globe.

When questioned by Alan Colmes on Fox News regarding his remarks, Mr. Rove stated that he thought his comments were “off the record”.

I don’t think so.

UPDATED: Biden, Rove respond to 'doofus' comment

UPDATE: Karl Rove just appeared on Fox News, where he is a commentator. He was asked about the comments he made at a Maine delegation breakfast where he called Democratic vice presidential candidate a "big, blowhard doofus."

He didn't deny making the comments, and said the only thing he would apologize for was for Biden being wrong of the Iraq War.

At the delegation’s breakfast, Rove called Biden a “big blowhard doofus.” His press secretary later responded with a prepared statement.

CNN reports that on a campaign flight Monday evening, a reporter asked him if he would now answer to Senator Doofus.

Rove comments: Biden camp responds

A spokesman for Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) has responded to Karl Rove’s remarks earlier, before the Maine delegation, that the vice presidential nominee was a “big blowhard doofus.”

Spokesman David Wade tells ABC News:

"It's more than a little sad that with another hurricane heading for the Gulf Coast, Karl Rove is up to the same old attack politics that he practically patented while helping dig a deep hole for our country to get out of. Americans expect better, especially at a time like this."

Palin and Obama - post boomer bliss

It must be a tough time to be a boomer.  First - a rejection by the voters in both parties, and then a rejection by the candidates, as Obama reached back a generation while McCain reached ahead.

Can it be purely a matter of chance that we have a 20 year gap among the four nominees for President and Vice President? It's as if the baby boomers were surgically removed from consideration!
