The November ballot for Maine State House and Senate candidates continues to change as "place holder" candidates continue to drop out and new folks step up to take their place.
According to the Secretary of State, 23 candidates have withdrawn since the primary on June 10th. 5 Senate candidates, (2 Republicans, 2 Democrats and One Green) have withdrawn and 18 House candidates have pulled plug. (10 Republicans and 8 Democrats).
At this point, only one candidate has officially been replaced, but that will change in the next two weeks. Republicans have already lined up Tom Dunne in Senate District 7 (So. Portland, Cape and part of Scarborough) to run against Larry Bliss. Also, the chances are pretty slim that the Senate Democrats will leave Senator Kevin Raye (District 29) and Senator Deb Plowman (district 33) unopposed.
For the latest rumors and the best discussion on the daily twists and turns of the individual races there is a thread on As Maine Goes that does a decent job on keeping the races up to date.

Funny....
Tom Dunne running as an Republican? I guess giving money to Obama (source OpenSecrets.org) doesn't disqualify you from running as a Republican, but one has to wonder just how committed he is to the Republican Party.
Tom Dunne Is A Great Leader
I admire Tom for his authenticity, integrity, clear thinking and drive to do the right thing. He will be a great leader for Maine.
