Right Wing News sent out a request to over 200 "right-of-center" bloggers and asked them to send their LEAST favorite elected Republicans in an unranked list (up to ten) in Congress, President, or governors. Forty two responded and came up with the following list (with total votes in parentheses):
14) Ron Paul (5)
14) Mel Martinez (5)
13) Michael Bloomberg (7)
11) Susan Collins (8)
11) Charlie Crist (8)
9) George Voinovich (9)
9) John Warner (9)
7) Lindsey Graham (16)
7) Larry Craig (16)
6) Ted Stevens (17)
5) John McCain (18)
4) Arnold Schwarzenegger (19)
3) Olympia Snowe (20)
1) Arlen Specter (23)
1) Chuck Hagel (23)
Our own Senator Olympia Snowe finished in the top 3 with 20 votes, just one vote ahead of Arnold Schwarzenegger, while Senator Collins was only able to muster 8 votes, in a tie with Governor Crist from Florida.
No word yet from the Collins camp if they will use this ranking for independent voters and soft democrats in election materials in the Fall. Senator Snowe has allegedly sent a thank you note.
Right Wing News also asked right of center bloggers to rank the favorite elected republican as well, and you can view that list here. And no, Linc Chaffee was not on the list.
Collins has the support of 94% of her party’s voters compared to Allen’s 80% support among Democratic voters. >
