Daily Kos is reporting that the Collins and Allen race is unchanged one year later, with Collins (R) Leading 57 to 38 over her opponent, Tom Allen (D). The Research 2000 Maine Poll (A poll sponsored by Daily KOS) was conducted from September 8 through September 10, 2008 where they called 600 likely voters.
The poll results are summed about succinctly by the pollster
I polled this back in October of last year, and seeing the bleak numbers, moved on to other races. This was an attempt to see if Allen had closed the gap in the past 10 months or so, and unfortunately, the answer appears to be "no".
These numbers are particularly surprising as Allen has had a decent run of TV commercials and has been much more visible in the state over the past month. It was widely expected, even by the Collins campaign, that the poll numbers would tighten up significantly as the Allen campaign kicked in to gear.
The same poll has Obama up 14 over McCain in Maine, which they refer to as a "landslide". I guess that would make the Collins numbers an avalanche, as opposed to the Daily Kos headline of "ME-Sen: Still looking tough."
Sheesh
Nothing to see here...let's move along folks and concentrate on the NH Senate race where we have a chance...
